WIDE OPEN
Photography & Digital Art Show
Historically, this has been a Juried Show held at the Thousand Oaks Community during the month of June.
The event is sponsored by Craig Morton, d.b.a. Morton Art Studio, with assistance from Dennis Griffin and many others.
2008
The first WIDE OPEN Show was organized in 2008 as an event to showcase the extraordinary work of photographers and digital artists working in and around the Conejo Valley. The first Show was judged by John Gray and Svetlana Kasalovic, both of Moorpark College, and was a two week event.
2010
The Show was expanded to a full month. 181 entries were accepted into the Show which was judged by Donna Granata (Focus on the Masters). Award winners were invited to participate in an ENCORE Show in the Kavli Theatre at the City of Thousand Oaks' Civic Arts Plaza.
2011
The WIDE OPEN Show attracted 277 Entries from 64 photographers and digital artists. Approximately 2 in 3 entries were invited to exhibit and compete for awards. Show Judges were Peter Fehler, Pamela Shoenberg, and George Hutchison. Award winners from this Show were invited to participate in an ENCORE II Show in the Kavli Theatre at the City of Thousand Oaks' Civic Arts Plaza.
2012
The number of acceptances was limited to the to the top 150 works juried from all entries. The Show was judged by John Grzywacz, Julie Morton and Sherron Sheppard. Anne Allen's "Ferris Wheel" was awarded Best of Show.
2015
136 works in eight Show categories from 35 artists were judged by Thomas Evans Howell of Camp Nelson, CA. Nikolai Sklobovsky was awarded Best of Show. |
